Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, best known for his films like Mr. India, Bandit Queen and Elizabeth to name a few, has of late been talking about his next Paani. Though the film is a long way away from commencement, we hear that Kapur will soon be teaming up with musical maestro and Oscar winner A. R. Rahman to produce a film.
In fact it is learnt that Kapur along with Rahman and Samir Bangara, the founder of online movie platform Qyuki will be producing a film titled SlumGods. Interestingly the film will be based on the Dharavi based hip hop group by the same name that broke out in the Mumbai underground scene in 2009.
However, though Kapur will be associated with the project he will not be writing or directing the film, but will in fact be solely the creative and technical support, while the film itself will be written and directed by the SlumGods members themselves. While the film aims at changing the perception of the slum, Rahman will be closely involved in the film's music.
