The whole film fraternity came to an instant standstill after the death of the legendary actor Shammi Kapoor. Lots of his fans have paid various tributes to him as a mark of love and respect. Likewise, the South Asia Film Festival (SAFF), in order to honour him, will be organizing a tribute programme in Goa on September 15, in the memory of the late actor.
Rahul Barua, the Secretary General of the South Asia Foundation (SAF), which organizes the festival in Goa annually, said that as a tribute to the legendary actor Shammi Kapoor, besides a special screening of his film Brahmachari, Shammi's hit film Kashmir Ki Kali will also be screened at the festival, which will also have a special segment on films from Bhutan. He also added that SAF (which is in its sixth year of existence), promises a rich haul of more than 50 films from all the eight South Asian countries. Bhutan is the focus country of SAFF-2011. In addition to that, a delegation from the Bhutanese film industry and members of the Motion Pictures Association of Bhutan (MPAB) will represent its industry.
He also added that, besides all this, various film personalities like Subhash Ghai, Randhir Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt and Sharmila Tagore will be conducting workshops on various aspects of filmmaking like scriptwriting and direction.
