Sanjay Dutt’s furlough extension rejected

Sanjay Dutt who was sentenced to imprisonment in 2013, over illegal possession of arms and ammunitions, recently came out on a 14 day parole in order to celebrate New Year with his family. The actor who decided to surrender himself owing to the completion of his furlough on January 8, however, returned home from jail on the same day.

While this created some confusion, certain police officials claimed that this action was taken since there was no decision taken on the actor’s furlough extension plea which was filed on December 27. And now, lawyer Hitesh Jain revealed that the furlough extension application has been rejected and the actor has been asked to return to jail today itself. The actor is currently serving a 42 month imprisonment at Yerawada Jail.

Sanjay Dutt‘s constant parole pleas and furlough extensions have created quite an outburst in different quarters and some accuse the government and the law to be favourable towards celebrities. After surrendering himself in May 2013, the actor had received furlough twice, once in October 2013 owing to health reasons and the other in December 2013 when his wife Manyata was admitted to the hospital.

During the recent furlough, not only did Sanjay Dutt party hard on New Year’s Eve but he was also invited for a special screening of PK in which he played a supporting role opposite superstar Aamir Khan.
