Salman Khan is on an extended alcohol sabbatical. Though he has been on a no-drinking binge off and on this time the phase will last longer, for almost a year.


This time Salman is staying away from alcohol for his role in Sultan.


Says a source close to the project, "The role requires a huge physical discipline. Salman has to train rigorously to look like a wrestler. And to stay in shape he has been advised a completely alcohol-free diet. He won't touch a drop of it until the shooting is over."


According to a close friend of the superstar, Salman is off-alcohol most of the time. "About ten years back he went through a prolonged phase of drinking when he would be carrying his glass of Bacardi everywhere ,even on the road where you'd have seen his faithful servant Sheru carrying a bottle to fill the glass that Salman carried with him everywhere.Mercifully that phase ended. Salman is now alcohol-free most of the time. He only has that occasional glass of wine , and even that he has stopped completely now to stay de-toxified while he shoots for Sultan."
