When Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to produce a film as massy as Rowdy Rathore, he had only his family and friends from his childhood days in mind as the audience. Bhansali spent his childhood and growing-up years in a chawl and spent many evenings watching massy films in the dingy theatres in the area.
He's now ready to revive his association with his past in a most unexpected way. The first-look trailer of Rowdy Rathore would be launched on April 2 at the BDD (Bombay Development Department) Chawls in Worli Mumbai. The event would be open to the entire area. Chawl dwellers would be welcome to come and shake hands with Akshay and exchange a smile with Sonakshi.
Bhansali who is currently scouting locations in Gujarat for his next film would fly down especially for the event.
Says a source close Bhansali, "Rowdy Rathore is Bhansali's gift to all his childhood friends and relatives. He has invited them all, folks he hasn't met for years, to the Jamborie Maidaan in the BDD Chawls. He will be flying down from Gujarat for the day to be at the venue with Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and director Prabhu Deva."
Shikha Kapoor, head of marketing at UTV (co-producer of Rowdy Rathore) says, "We thought it would be fun to have over-the-top trailer launch to suit the mood of the film."
