They always say that old is gold. But, we all know that Bollywood is a place of contradictions. Without dropping names, let us tell you that there are only a handful of yesteryears stars (esp. heroes) who have managed to age gracefully and accept the fact that they have aged, while the rest of the lot are still struggling to get an inroad in Bollywood, even if it's a blink and miss role... mirroring the magnetic call of Bollywood. The same cannot be said about the heroines, who, even though look their best during their heydays, but cannot arrest themselves from ageing times when they tend to put on weight, certain factors which prevent them from facing the media and cameras.
The situation is more or less the same with the yesteryear star actress cum national heartthrob Reena Roy, who won many a heart with her true to life performances in films like Sanam Teri Kasam, Kalicharan, Asha and others. It's only over the years that she had become obese due to inactivity and a troublesome health issue. Media reports state that even though Reena Roy staged a comeback as a character actor in the '90s films, she had to restrain herself during 2006 onwards due to constant health issues, which prevented her from attending any filmi events et al.
The latest update on this eternally beautiful actress is that she has now reportedly undergone a bariatric surgery under the able guidance of Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala (Head- Department of Minimal Access and Bariatric Surgery, Saifee Hospital). For starters, Bariatric surgery is an operation on the stomach and/or intestines that helps the patients with extreme obesity to lose weight.
When asked about Roy, even though Mufazzal accepted that she was admitted (under his supervision) in the hospital, he refused to divulge the reason for her admission. An insider claimed that, despite her sister Barkha's constant telling her for over two years; it's only now that Reena underwent the surgery. When asked about her sister Reena's surgery, all that Barkha said was Dr. Lakdawala was their neighbour and a family friend, and that Reena had gone just for a routine check-up.
Reena, who was last seen in J.P. Dutta's Refugee and then a TV serial titled 'Eena Meena Deeka', which was produced by her sister Barkha Roy.
