The transition from television to films is nothing new, but that it takes over two decades is literally unheard of. However, TV director and producer Ravi Rai (known for serials like Sailaab, Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai) will soon be making his much delayed debut in Bollywood with his directorial venture, Maaya, Vanilla And Strawberries.
The film titled Maaya, Vanilla And Strawberries stars Ali Fazal and is based on the story of five friends who come to Mumbai to become actors. The plot follows their lives as they become everything but what they intended to. Confirming the news, Rai says, "Everybody has a set of friends and has moments a la Chashme Buddoor in their lives. My film is about people discovering relationships with the bottom line being, life is beautiful."
Though Ali who played Joy Lobo in 3 Idiots has been finalized to play one of the protagonists of the film, the rest of the cast is yet to be roped in while the lead actress is said to be a known name from the industry.
Considered one of the most talented directors on television, Ravi Rai's Marathi film (as Producer) Tingya won 53 national and International awards. Maaya, Vanilla And Strawberries will be shot this year and release in summer 2013.
