After Hate Story, Vivek Agnihotri is busy working on his next ambitious project Freedom. And for the same, the filmmaker has managed a coup of sorts by getting Rahul Sharma (son of santoor legend Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma) to compose music for his film. Rahul has in the past composed music for just YRF's Mujhse Dosti Karoge many years ago.
Speaking about the kind of music in Freedom and why he decided to get Rahul Sharma on board, Vivek Agnihotri says, "Freedom is set in the 80's and 90's- a period during which Indi-pop as a genre of music was really at its peak popularity. Usually I've worked with Pritam for my films' music but this time I wanted somebody to create a completely new genre of music. That's when I decided on Rahul Sharma. Rahul has a solid Indian classical background and is equally sound in his knowledge of western music as well having collaborated successfully with the likes of Richard Clayderman and Kenny G. Initially, he was a bit skeptical since he doesn't really compose music for Bollywood films but when he read the script he was more than ready to come on board. We've already begun working on the songs and the genre of music is what is known as electro-classical rock, a specialized genre in itself."
Speaking about the cast of the film, Vivek said, "Freedom mostly stars new actors and I've just returned yesterday after travelling around the country for over a month scouting for new talent. It's an ensemble cast and among new names you also have the likes of powerful actors like Chandan Roy Sanyal (of Kaminey fame). Freedom is a crime drama. We plan to go on floors on October 16 and the film will be shot in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh."
