Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who was detained by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Delhi Airport on Sunday for allegedly carrying $1.24 lakh in undeclared cash, has now been released. The singer along with his manager Maroof and event manager Chitresh Shrivastava were questioned for several hours on Monday before being released. Besides the amount of $1.24 lakh, the I.T. officials who raided Rahat's event manager Chitresh's properties in Mumbai found $ 2 lakh. The officials are still probing the source of such huge amounts of money.
Meanwhile even though Rahat and his troupe members have been released, the trio's passports have been withheld and the DRI has asked them to appear for further questioning on Thursday.
Apparently, it is believed that The Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi set up a special team to liaise with the Department of Revenue Intelligence, which had detained Rahat.
