After a week of detention on alleged drug charges actor Vijay Raaz was released on Tuesday night by the Abu Dhabi police. He was released at around 7:30pm and arrived in Mumbai early this morning on an Etihaad flight. He was in Dubai to shoot for Feroz Nadiadwala's Deewane Hue Paagal. His wife Krishna, daughter Tanishka (5), and close family friends were waiting eagerly at the airport. It was an emotional moment for all of us when Vijay arrived and we drove him straight to his flat at Goregaon. He requires rest and we have decided not to disturb him by talking about the incident at this stage, says a close friend of the actor. A family member who did not want to be named said, We would like to thank each and every one who stood besides Vijay and his family during the time of crisis. His release is almost a miracle for us and clearly proves his innocence. Indian Embassy officials in Abu Dhabi said that the actor's relatives had approached them seeking help in the release and the embassy gained consular access to the actor on Monday. According to Tanjal (First Secretary-Information) attached to the Indian Embassy, Raaz, who was detained at Al Watva, Abu Dhabi, informed them that he was innocent and did not know how the drugs came into his hand baggage.
