Two big films Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, headlined by superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar respectively, released on August 11 in theatres. The anticipation around these films was high but they hardly managed to create any magic at the box office. The shows are being reduced in theatres; some are being replaced by other movies such as Do Baaraa and Karthikeya 2. Taapsee Pannu starrer Do Baaraa has released in theatres today whereas Ek Villain Returns and Karthikeya 2 are already running in cinemas. It seems like to bring in more audience to the theatres, cinema chain owners are introducing new offers.
PVR Cinemas has announced Buy 3 Get 1 Free ticket offer on their website for Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan, and other movies running in theatres to ramp up the collections. The offer is valid from August 16 to August 24. The minimum number of tickets that can be purchased are four with a maximum discount on the 4th ticket to be capped at Rs. 200. The offer is valid on all running movies.
While the cinema chain was expecting the audience to lap up the offer for both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, the collections in cinemas at PVR have failed to show any growth for both movies. In fact, the collections for both the movies have gone on a downward spiral indicating the lack of interest or desire from the audience to even look at the offer.
Laal Singh Chaddha, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios, stars Aamir Khan Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Chaitanya Akkineni. Meanwhile, Raksha Bandhan is helmed by Aanand L Rai and stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar.
