It's going to be aar ya paar for director Sam Taylor-Johnson's adaptation of what has been widely designated as porn material, Fifty Shades Of Grey.
Some countries have already banned the film.
The fate of the film in India now hangs in the balance.
On Monday the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) will watch the controversial sexy film... But in a cleaned out avatar.
Apparently, the film's Indian distributors have submitted a sanitized version of Fifty Shades Of Grey for the CFBC to view and certify.
A source from the CBFC says, "We've received a letter along with the film Fifty Shades Of Grey stating that they've submitted a saaf, swachch version of the original so that the film is not completely unpalatable to the censor board members."
In principle what this means is an acceptance by the film's Indian distributors that Fifty Shades Of Grey is indeed not suitable for Indian audiences in the original form.
"By making their own cuts and submitting a saaf-suthra version of the highly erotic original, the people behind the film are admitting to an unreasonably high erotic content in the material. We will now have to see how far we can evaluate this 'cut' version and how much more has to be cut," says the source from the CBFC.
