Priyanka Chopra sings John Lennon’s Imagine to support children’s rights

Amidst juggling between movies and her music career, Priyanka Chopra is also the UNICEF National ambassador for child rights and the actress always makes sure of fulfilling her responsibility.

Priyanka Chopra, who recently has also gained acclaim for her vocal talent, has decided to use it to support the noble cause for children. She will be seen singing the John Lennon song ‘Imagine‘ for a special UN video on the 25th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The actress has shot this video in collaboration with music producer and DJ David Guetta, artist Yoko Ono among others. ‘Imagine: Every Child Counts, Every Voice Counts’ is a global initiative to raise awareness of children’s rights and to raise funds to support UNICEF’s work to advance these rights for every child. While she is the only Indian to feature in this video, it also features Katy Perry, Will.i.am, Angelique Kidjo, Daniela Mercury and Idris Elba.

Talking about the video and her involvement in it as the UNICEF ambassador, Priyanka said, “An exciting aspect of my 8 year association with UNICEF has not only been the ability to make a tangible difference to the lives of so many young people, but also to use various innovations to create avenues to connect with a wider audience. The ‘Imagine’ Project is one such innovation and I am honored to have been chosen to be a part of this amazing cause with such an illustrious panel of contributors. John Lennon has been a personal favorite of mine and his creation ‘Imagine’ so succinctly describes the scenario that we are all trying to achieve. In his words… You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one… I hope someday you will join us and the world will be as one!”
