Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd. received the Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate Governance for the Emerging Economies [Private Sector] for the year 2005 at a glittering function held at the Nuffield Hall in Regent Park, London on May 12. The award was decided by a prestigious international jury headed by Dr. Ola Ullsten, former Prime Minister of Sweden. The awards ceremony coincided with the Sixth International Conference on Corporate Governance 2005, being held at the same venue and was attended by some of the world's leading corporate governance experts. The function was chaired by Dr. Ullsten. Pritish Nandy, Chairman of Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd., received the award on behalf of the company. The award is instituted by the World Council for Corporate Governance in London, in association with the Centre for Corporate Governance and the Institute of Directors, London. This is the first time a motion picture company from India has won such a prestigious global award for corporate governance, dispelling the prevalent myth that the Indian movie industry is disorganized and chaotic.
