Legendary actor Pran passed away today evening at Mumbai's Lilavati hospital. Readers may be aware that the veteran actor was not keeping well for a while now. He was 93.
Not many know that Pran Krishan Sikand, popularly know as Pran, was educated at various places like Kapurthala, Unnao, Meerut, Dehradun and Rampur as his father was a Government Civil Contractor for the construction of roads and bridges. He started his career in showbiz by learning photography in Lahore, when a 'luck-by-chance' chance meeting with a film producer got him his first break in Yamla Jat in 1940. Having acted in innumerable films after that, Pran has indeed left an irreplaceable vacuum in the Indian cinema. The veteran actor will always be remembered for his power-packed performances in films like Zanjeer, Don, Amar Akbar Anthony and many more.
The actor received Dadasaheb Phalke award in May this year, which considered as the highest honour for the film personalities.
As per the reports, the last rites of the actor will be conducted at 12 noon at Shivaji Park crematorium tomorrow.
