The police in a press conference subsequent to the dramatic arrest of producer Nazeem Rizvi, alleged that he was involved in plotting a fresh attack on Hritik's father Rakesh Roshan. He had also threatened Ajay Devgan's unit using the Chhota Shakeel gang. The Mumbai police said that they had hard evidence in the form of taped conversations to prove that Rizvi was actively involved in a fresh plot to kill Roshan. Rakesh Roshan was shot at just before the release of his son Hrithik's debut film - Kaho Na Pyar Hai - at the behest of gangster Chhota Shakeel. The police suspect that he also was allegedly involved in the attack on producer-director Rakesh Roshan last year. They also claimed that Rizvi was also plotting to take over Ratan Jain's Venus music company and had issued threats to him. The company was then to be used as a front to launder underworld money. Rizvi threatened Kumar Mangal, an associate of actor-producer Ajay Devgan, to postpone the release of his home production Raju Chacha starring Ajay with his wife Kajol. This was because Rizvi did not want Raju Chacha to clash with the release of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. The Salman Khan, Preity and Rani starrer Chori Chori Chupke Chupke was scheduled for release on December 22. These charges are expected to be figure in the remand application to be filed by the Mumbai police on Thursday morning on producing Rizvi in the City Civil and Sessions court. Joint Commissioner (Crime) D Sivanandhan stated: "We have nabbed him for being part of the underworld." Rizvi hit the headlines three years ago, claiming that Chhota Shakeel's gang had threatened him for his film Angaarvadi. Angaarvadi dealt with terrorism and was a usual potboiler mix of contemporary political events including the Babri Masjid demolition. Angaarvadi was made in reply to a Pakistani film of the same name, which showed Indian Muslims in a negative light. Rizvi had then claimed that the Bhai wanted him to modify certain parts in this film. Bollywood sources said that the threats came because Chotta Shakeel who had financed the film turned jittery on poor response to the release of the film. He had asked for his money back. Rizvi is later reported to have smoked a peace pipe with Chotta Shakeel. The crime branch has also pressed charges against Rizvi under Section 302 (murder), Section 115 (abetment), Section 387 (extortion threats) and Section 120 (b) (concealing design to commit offence) of the Indian Penal Code. The police have launched investigations alongwith the Income Tax department and the Intelligence Bureau into the murky waters of film industry-underworld relationship. The Police have reportedly summoned Salman, Rani and Preity for interrogation. According to sources, police will arrest some more film personalities today as a part of their ongoing investigations.
