Shooting of Housefull 2 may still be in progress while director Sajid Khan would be beginning work on his next with Vashu Bhagnani in 2012. However, plans are already being put together by Sajid Nadiadwala as well as Sajid Khan to convert Housefull into a huge franchise. Instead of being content with just Housefull 2, the makers would be joining hands again for Housefull 3 soon.
"They have the flexibility to do because unlike a Krrish or a Harry Potter, they are not required to continue the same story in Housefull series", says a source close to the makers, "Story of Housefull 2 has nothing to do with Housefull though the basic idea of a house getting full stays intact. In a way just as Golmaal has continued to be a franchise with the characterisation as well as relationships changing with just the core theme - an all around 'golmaal' - being intact, even Housefull 2 would be taking forward the spirit of Housefull. This allows Sajid to work on different ideas and add on to the franchise."
This translates into the fact that the writers of the film know that they have a job in hands once Housefull 2 is entirely out of their system. Sajid has briefed his writers that they would have to carry forward with Housefull 3 as well. Also, announcement would be made during the rolling credits of Housefull 2 itself which would go as - 'See you soon in Housefull 3'.
"Yes, the moment script of Housefull 2 was locked, an impromptu decision was taken by everyone involved that this won't be the end of the franchise", says a member of the film's writing team, "Since the core story idea of both Housefull as well as Housefull 2 is by Sajid Nadiadwala, he was more than thrilled to have another addition to the franchise which has become far bigger than the first in the series with over a dozen major stars featuring in it."
Though the film won't go on floors before 2013, it is expected that the makers would approach Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh all over again since they have been an integral part of all Sajid Khan's movies (including Heyy Babyy) so far.
On contacted, Sajid Khan doesn't deny that Housefull 3 is definitely a part of the agenda. "Yes, Housefull 3 would be made with Sajid Nadiadwala. He is not just magnanimous; he also goes out of the way to ensure that everyone is treated well. He is a shining example of how a film producer should be and is truly the last of the moguls."
Refusing to disclose the core synopsis of Housefull 3, Sajid smiled it all away by stating, "When I haven't spoken about the storyline of Housefull 2 so far, do you really expect me to talk about Housefull 3? I can tell you though that each of these films will have shadows and memories of first in the series attached to it."
