Away from Bollywood's arclights and cameras, actor Nirmal Pandey tied the knot with Archana Sharma, principal of City Montessori School (CMS), Lucknow last night. Pandey explains why he was keen to have a low-key wedding without any media attention. ''As actors, we are used to the glare of publicity. But I have always been a private person. I was just keen to have a quiet wedding and look forward to a happy married life ahead.'' This is not a known fact but besides being a good actor, Nirmal is also a versatile singer and an accomplished artist. He already has two music albums to his credit. So why have his fans been seeing so little of him on the big screen these days? ''I guess that's because I am very selective. I did play the villain in several commercial films but after doing films like Bandit Queen, Dayra, Godmother and Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, you don't want to reduce your standard. The negative roles were becoming monotonous, he explains. In recent times, I am looking forward to my Indo-French production Prabhu Ke Gun Gaoon, in which I am playing the role of a 70-year-old qawwali singer. There's another film, 36 Ghante, where you'll be seeing me next. Then of course there are serials like Kavyanjali and Ada and another Balaji production where I will appear on the small screen,'' he adds.
