The 17-member jury deciding the 49th National Film Awards have split the Best Actress award between Tabu and Shobhanafor Chandni Bar and Mitr, My Friend respectivelyafter equal votes were cast in favour of both. Best Actor: Malayalam actor Murali, for his film Orukku Noor Per. Best Film: Dweepa, by Girish Kasaravalli. Best Wholesome Entertainment Award: Lagaan. In all, around 150 entries were received by the Directorate of Film Festivals and the jury spent 17 days to arrive at its decision today.
