The 2011 Malayalam film Salt N' Pepper that was remade into three South Indian languages as Un Samayal Ariyal, Oggarane and Ulavacharu Biryani, is all set to get its Bollywood version. With Prakash Raj foraying into direction in Bollywood with this film, it has been titled as Tadka.
While Prakash Raj played the role of Kalidasa in this romantic and aromatic tale of relationships in all the three of its remakes, the Bollywood version will see Nana Patekar essaying the same role with Shriya Saran opposite him along with Ali Fazal and Taapsee Pannu playing the young couple. Tadka is a unique tale of love that brews between a middle-aged couple over their love for cooking and food. But inferiority complex about their looks and age takes them through a journey of mix-ups and errors which later creates confusion not only in their romance but also in yet another budding love story that will revolve around Ali and Taapsee.
Ali who is excited about this film, said, "I have always admired Prakash sir's work, be it down South or up here. Being directed by him is going to be an adventure I will look forward to. It's one of the most endearing stories I have had the chance to work on. Look forward to bringing some 'Tadka' to the canvas. I am also blessed to work with lovely co-stars like Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran and Tapsee. The ball's rolling and we're all set to jump in."
On the other hand, equally thrilled about being a part of this love story is Taapsee Pannu as she added, "It's so exciting that finally Prakash sir will direct me. I have acted with him in 2 movies in Telugu before and we had such great time working with each other. His energy is infectious. Icing on the cake being I will get to share screen space with The Nana Patekar. I have seen the film in South but a lot has changed in it now to suit the sensibilities of Hindi audience and I'm nothing short of thrilled to be doing this role in such an amazing star cast."
The producers Nittin Keni & Akash Chawla of Zee Studios along with Sameer Dixit & Jatish Varma are very excited to work with this ensemble cast on such an exciting script with a unique Tadka.
The film is slated to go on floors in Goa in the first week of May this year.
