For all of those waiting to catch Munnabhai Ki Aatma Katha sooner than later, hold on to your horses. Even though the announcement has just come in that the third part of this franchise is all set to kick-start, the fact is that Rajkumar Hirani won't be calling the shots soon. The film won't go on floors before July next year and is expected to see the light of the day only towards mid-2013.
Says our reliable source, "Yes, even though it has been over half a decade that Lagey Raho Munnabhai was released, neither Hirani nor his producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra want to hurry up the affairs. They understand the brand value that the Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi starrer carries and want to give it due respect. They announced Munnabhai Ki Aatma Katha for next year as they wanted to quash all speculations around the film. However the fact remains that it is going through some intense pre-production and only when everything is in place, shooting will begin."
Another line of thought around further pushing ahead of the film's shoot is being attributed to the interim release of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's another production Ferrari Ki Sawaari. Since the maverick filmmaker is quite gung ho about the film, he wants the Sharman Joshi starrer to get its due attention. In fact a teaser of the film has already been released and there would be further momentum in promotion as the New Year kick-starts.
"Ferrari Ki Sawaari directed by debutant Rajesh Mapuskar has been confirmed for 27th April release in the middle of IPL. Since the film has cricket as an integral part of it, its arrival during the cricket season is well timed. For next few months all effort would be to prepare for that film and only after it's release would Munnabhai Ki Aatma Katha begin", the source adds.
Meanwhile, both Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi have blocked their dates from July onwards to begin shooting for Munnabhai Ki Aatma Katha. This means that the film would now release only towards the middle of 2013, hence joining the likes of other high profile films like Krissh 2 and Dhoom 3 that are expected to arrive around the same timeline.
