Manoj Bajpai has been signed to play the lead opposite the famous Canadian actress Sarah Polley (of 'Exotica', 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen', 'Guinevere', 'Go', 'eXistenZ' and 'Monster' fame), in an indo-Canadian venture called 'Indigo', to be made in English and directed by the Toronto-based filmmaker Suresh Natrajan (of the critically acclaimed 'Petals' fame). The film is based on a true story of a beautiful American Mohiniyattom dance student who falls in love with a Hindu priest. Their forbidden love affair takes them on a controversial and perilous journey. 'Indigo' will go on floors in September 2002 and will be shot in Toronto and parts of Kerala. Sarah, who has been one of the most sought-after Canadian actresses ever since 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' happened to her, is thrilled about doing this film. It's always been a challenge to work in new interesting set-ups like these and this one is going to be just that and more, she quipped excitedly over the phone. As for Manoj, its yet another high in his career. Its my pleasure to work with an internationally-acclaimed actress like Sarah, and knowing Suresh (the director), there's surely something nice going to come out of this film, he quipped before leaving for Leh to shoot for 'LoC' last week. All the best to the ambitious team.
