Call it a coincidence or whatever, Ketan Mehta has decided to release his period drama MANGAL PANDEY [THE RISING] in the same week as that of LAGAAN. While LAGAAN hit the marquee on June 15, MANGAL PANDEY will be released worldwide on June 10. "Believe me, it's a coincidence," Ketan Mehta smiles, as I broach the topic, "All I know is that I've made a film that I am proud of and also confident of its success. Frankly, we will be ready to show the world our film on this date. Competing with LAGAAN was never on our mind." Ketan further informs that both the Hindi as well as the English versions will be released simultaneously.
