‘M.S.A.M.D.’ to be premiered at I.I.F.A.:

Rubberband Films’ MUMBAI SE AYA MERA DOST, produced by Vishal Nihalani and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is complete and all set for release in May. The film will be premiered at the I.I.F.A. Awards 2003 in South Africa next month. Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta, the film is about ‘electricity coming to a small village in Rajasthan’. Today, rural India still has some villages that do not have electricity; MUMBAI SE AAYA MERA DOST takes place in one such village. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, who has studied films at New York University and has extensive production experience with Indian and International films, the film also stars Aditya Lakhia, Yashpal, Chunky Pandey, Daya Shankar Pandey, Akhilendra Mishra and Rageshwari. It was shot in a single schedule of 67 days in Jaisalmer with 3 days in Mumbai. Interestingly, an entire permanent village set was created consisting of 30 huts, which was then handed over to villagers post film shooting. National award winner Meera Lakhia created the set.
