While on Ahmed Khan, his directorial debut LAKEER has been postponed to May 7. The film was initially scheduled for release on April 23, but has been postponed by two weeks for three reasons.
Ahmed Khan spells them out: The post-production work has not been completed yet. There was a slight goof up in the effects and we've had to re-do it again. Also, with MURDER and MASTI faring well and occupying the best of cinema halls, it was pointless releasing the film without a good chain of theatres.
Ahmed continues, The third reason was that we didn't want to clash with MAIN HOON NA on April 30. It's unwise to release two big films on the same date. Spacing out releases is a must and that's precisely why we've decided to shift the film to a latter date [May 7].
However, rumour mills are agog that the film was also shifted from April 23 to May 7 because the Bobby Deol starrer BARDAASHT is scheduled to hit the screens on April 23 and making the two Deols - Sunny [LAKEER] and Bobby [BARDAASHT] - clash on the same date was unacceptable to the brothers.
Ahmed doesn't rule out the rumour completely. Yes, there was talk to space out the two films, but it was our decision. Neither Sunny, nor Bobby forced us take the step, he clarifies.
