For the first time in his career, playback singer Kumar Sanu has composed the music for a Bangla film. He has done the musical score for two Hindi films before this, including Utthhan (2006) which he also produced. The Bangla film is a musical romance called Besh Korechhi Prem Korecchi (I have loved, so what?) directed by Narayan Roy. Kumar Sanu flew to Kolkata especially for the music launch of this film.
"I accepted this assignment mainly because I have known Narayan closely for quite some years. Generally, I am not really keen on taking on the mantle of music director for films. I am happy lending my voice and preparing for the launch of my full-fledged music academy in Dubai in the near future. This needs me to fly to Dubai very often leaving little time for composing music for films," said Padma Shri Kumar Sanu.
Kumar Sanu is very proud of having assembled the best talents in playback from Mumbai to sing for this film. "For the first time in Bengali cinema, seven top talents have lent their voices under my music direction. Among them are Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and I. I enjoyed working in the town I grew up in, for a film in my mother-tongue Bengali and in an environment of warmth, harmony and freedom. I felt happy to have worked with the extremely talented lyricists like Gautam and Susmit who are among the top lyricists in contemporary Bengali cinema," he said. Sanu even belted out a few lines of a song from the film when actor Premjeet requested him, much to the thrill of the gathered press. Gautam of the Gautam-Susmit duo said, "It was an honour for us to work with Sanuda. He is as talented a music composer as he is as a singer. It has been a wonderful learning experience. I like love stories with lots of songs."
Besh Korechhi Prem Korecchi has bunched together an impressive acting cast that is a happy blend of veterans like Ranjit Mullick, Biplab Chatterjee, Santu Mukherjee, Anamika Saha, Tapas Pal, Anuradha Roy, Rajesh Sharma, comparative newcomers like Premjeet and Swarnakamal and two new faces in Sayak, who has played the romantic hero, and Amrita who is introduced in a parallel role as Tapas Pal's sister. Based on a story and script by Tapan Bhattacharjee who has also written the dialogue.
The film has been produced by Subodh Kundu under the Maa Durga Films banner. Kundu said, "I was looking out for good stories to be made into films I am willing to produce. I am happy that Narayan Roy has directed the film and Kumar Sanu very graciously acceded to our request to write the musical score for this film." Kumar Sanu added that he liked the script because it had a lot of scope for the kind of music in which he believes. The film will release in the theatres in the last week of March.
