The day of Fourth of July holds a great significance in the Unites States since it marks its Independence Day. It is a common trend to see the biggest of Hollywood blockbusters either release on this day or get launched on this day. Now John Abraham - producer of the mighty successful Vicky Donor - is also taking a cue out of this significance of choosing a right day for a film's launch and he has picked up 15th August, India's Independence Day, to kick-start shooting of his much ambitious film Kaala Ghoda.
"Kaala Ghoda is a light hearted take on the prevalent corruption in India. When John and his team brainstormed on the film's launch, there were many dates considered. However, John wanted to make it extra special and felt that 15th August would be just apt due to the significance that this day holds. It was unanimously agreed that the film's muhurat would be held on this day", informs a source from John's production house.
Kaala Ghoda is a dark comedy where John plays a cop, it also features Kunal Roy Kapur (of Delhi Belly fame) as his peer and partner in the film. While corruption is an undercurrent theme in the film, director Aditya Bhattacharya (of Raakh fame) has decided to tell the tale in a light hearted manner with a good dose of humour so that the message is conveyed in an entertaining manner instead of being thrust down the audience throat.
"There are plans being put together to make the 15th August launch really special since that would lead to widespread media coverage and awareness building as well", the source continues, "Since John comes from a strong marketing and advertising background, he is taking cue from many a lesson learnt in his earlier career stream. He understands that proper buzz building of a film is of paramount importance and the right date, time and setting can make or break a film."
One can well see that he is also taking a cue from Aamir Khan School of publicity since the senior actor has been known for carefully strategising the announcement and release of his films.
When contacted, John confirmed the news. He also added, "While Kunal is playing a corrupt cop, I am playing a suave cop who comes to his rescue. With a 15th August kick-start of the film's shoot, we are indeed looking at making a statement."
