It’s party time in Bollywood

Optimism rules! With the shraddh period ending a few days ago and also keeping in mind the success of various films in the past three months, Bollywood is celebrating and how! One look at the number of events/parties happening in Bollywood and you’ll realise that the mood is upbeat. Saturday, September 27 witnessed Vashu Bhagnani releasing the music of his latest venture OUT OF CONTROL mid-air, en route to Delhi [a detailed coverage has been listed elsewhere]. Sunday, September 28 witnessed the launch of two albums, BALIMIX [Nitin Bali] and BABLI at the hands of Rakesh Roshan. Nitin Bali regaled the guests after a formal launch by giving a live performance, singing three tracks from the album. Sunday evening also witnessed the birthday celebrations of Lata Mangeshkar. A memorable affair, the venue was packed to capacity with celebrities from all walks of life. Monday, September 29 was a hectic day. Besides the marriage of Karisma Kapoor to a Delhi-based industrialist, Sanjay Kapur, the evening witnessed the music launch of Yash Johar’s KAL HO NAA HO and the launch of a new film, HUMARA SAPNA… SABKA MAAL APNA. The music launch of KAL HO NAA HO was a classy affair, with Karan Johar posing questions to the KAL HO NAA HO team about the film. Coincidentally, everyone present at the venue, including Karan, director Nikhil Advani, Jaya Bachchan, SRK, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan, were dressed in black. Producer Yash Johar and his wife Hiroo were absent since the senior Johar is unwell and is recuperating in the U.S. “He’s better now. He should be back in a few days. He’s a fighter, will get well soon,” Karan tells me. Jaya Bachchan formally released the first audio cassette. Marketed by Sony Music, the film has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. In the adjoining hall of Taj Land’s End, producer Pramod Pandey and Singeshwar International launched their first production, HUMARA SAPNA… SABKA MAAL APNA, starring Dino Morea and new-find Swaraaj Kapoor and directed by B.H. Tharun Kumar [NAYEE PADOSAN]. “It’s a hilarious, thrill-a-minute comedy,” Tharun divulges. HUMARA SAPNA… SABKA MAAL APNA tells the story of Prakash [Swaraaj Kapoor] and Abdul [Dino Morea], who work in a bank. One is a cashier, the other is in the loans department. Abdul dreams of becoming rich overnight, whereas Prakash is a contented person. Both conspire a way to make quick money and eventually succeed and become fugitives. On the run through Kanyakumari to Kashmir, the two accidentally help the police capture some terrorists. The message the film intends conveying is, everybody gets an opportunity to become rich, but at a proper time. Shooting of HUMARA SAPNA… SABKA MAAL APNA will begin from December this year and the film will be shot in Mumbai, Chandigarh and Kullu-Manali. The leading ladies are under finalisation. Tuesday, September 30 witnessed the 100 day celebrations of Pritish Nandy Communication’s JHANKAAR BEATS at Athena, South Mumbai.
