While it is Rajasthan where global star Irrfan Khan was born and brought up, the actor has decided to do something special for the state. Irrfan has apparently become the face of Jairangam, the popular Jaipur Theatre Festival.
Irrfan Khan becomes the face of theatre festival in RajasthanThe platform for theatre in the country has much less popularity compared to other mediums and Irrfan Khan plans to boost it up soon. The Jaipur Theatre Festival that started in 2011 has gained prominence recently and the actor considers this as the right opportunity to change the scenario of theatre in India. “I feel glad to be part of this festival that we are able to share theatre with aam aadmi as it is not merely a source of entertainment,” said the actor.
Further elaborating on the condition of theatre and its likes, Irrfan Khan added, “When I was young and wanted to be part of theatre, there were hardly any plays happening in the city. They were either very serious or extremely dramatic. If someone mentioned theatre, people used to look down upon them. Though people were thinking and claiming theatre wouldn't be here for long, I believe theatre will never fade away and nothing can replace it.”
Last seen in the Hollywood film Inferno, Irrfan Khan will be seen with Sushant Singh Rajput for the first time in Takadum which also stars Parineeti Chopra. The film, directed by Homi Adajania, will have the actor playing the role of a musician.
