After many years Bollywood is in the mood for a grand Diwali this year.
As is the custom each year, the Bachchans will throw a Diwali party on Diwali night. Most Bollywood folks would be heading for the Bachchans residence this Diwali.
Sadly the other major annual Diwali bash in Bollywood is not happening this year. Aamir Khan whose annual all-night Diwali bash is a must-do on every Bollywood star's list is this year missing from Mumbai for Diwali shooting for Nitish Tiwari's Dangal in Punjab.
Says a regular star-guest at both the Bachchans' and Aamir's Diwali party, "Everybody normally goes to the Bachchans' bash first and then proceeds to Aamir's. He keeps an open house on Diwali night. It's the most happening night-spot on Diwali night. This year Diwali doesn't feel the same without Aamir's bash."
Diwali celebrations would also be on a high pitch at Salman and Hrithik's homes this year.
But with the election setbacks in Bihar for BJP, all Diwali festivities at Shatrughan Sinha's and Hema Malini's homes have been put on a low ebb.
Says a source, "Diwali is big for the Sinhas. A big all-night Diwali party was being planned by Sonakshi and her brothers when news of the BJP's electoral defeat in Bihar trickled in."
BJP's Hema Malini too has decided make Diwali a low-key affair this time.
Said the actress, "I am in Delhi for party work right now. Diwali would be with my family. There is not much to celebrate this time. My party has suffered electoral losses and Dharamji lost his brother."
Sanjay Leela Bhansali who generally likes to make Diwali a time to refurbish his home, paint his rooms and change the furniture is this time rushing against time to complete Bajirao Mastani. So there will be the usual Laxmi Puja and mithai, but no time for firecrackers for the director.
On the other hand the team of Diwale, which releases on the same day as Bajirao Mastani is in the mood for heavy partying on Diwali. Shah Rukh Khan's residence Mannat would be the venue for a Diwali party on Wednesday night.
