The Indian film industry has always attracted youngsters in large numbers. And it is surprising that there does not exist a comprehensive book that can help youngsters understand the nuances of the craft. Kishore Namit Kapoor, a graduate from FTII [Pune], who has been training aspirants at his academy for the past two decades, has come out with a book on acting, 'For The Actor - You Are The Instrument, You Are The Player'. How did the idea of a book on acting originate? While in college, I could not find a single book that could help me understand the craft. Even in FTII, I faced the same problem. The books on acting available to us were by foreign authors and were irrelevant to the kind of cinema we make in India, Kapoor remembers. That's when the thought occurred to Kapoor. I wanted to help millions of youngsters who wanted to make a career in acting. The result is the book, which should serve as a road map for aspiring actors to make a success of the profession, he states. The book was officially released at the hands of Hrithik Roshan on March 16 at The Classique Club, Lokhandwala Complex, while M.P. Rajiv Shukla was the chief guest. Later, actor Raza Murad read out a chapter from the book on the occasion. Yukta Mookhey, also a student of Kapoor, was the hostess for the evening. Vivek Oberoi, another student of Kapoor, announced on the occasion that serious lovers of acting who wish to buy the book but can't afford it, could purchase the book from Kapoor and Oberoi would bear the cost. After the formal book release, a skit was performed by the new batch of Kapoor's students. Published by Egmont Imagination [India] Ltd. In Hindi and English languages, the Hindi version is priced at Rs. 295/-, while the English version is for Rs. 695/-. Kishore Namit Kapoor has trained stars like Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Priyanka Chopra, Mahima Chaudhary and Fardeen Khan.
