So what if Govinda's last few films haven't fared well at the box-office, there's no denying that the actor has it in him to strike back with a vengeance. And one film that may change his fortunes for the better could be Smita Thackeray's HUM DO HAMAARA EK, directed by Anees Bazmee. The music of this Govinda Raveena Tandon Mahima Chaudhary starrer was launched with pomp and gaiety on Tuesday, November 11 at Hotel Tulip Star, Juhu. Present on the occasion were producer Smita Thackeray, director Anees Bazmee, associate producer Prashant Thanawala, T-Series' CEO Mukesh Desai, music director Sandeep Chowta, singer Sonu Nigam, actors Govinda, Satish Shah and Anant Mahadevan and lyricists Dev Kohli, Tabish Romani and Farhad. Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. is marketing the album. The first CD was released by Smita Thackeray's parents, while around ten children from an orphanage were specially invited and presented the audio and gift hampers on the occasion. Incidentally, Smita Thackeray has decided to shift the release of the film to January. Initially scheduled for a December 12/19 release, the producer has decided to release the film in January 2004. There is a heavy flow of big films like L.O.C. and KHAKEE in December. It would've been an exercise in futility to release my film in the same week as those films. That's why I've decided to release in January 2004, she tells me. Incidentally, HUM DO HAMAARA EK is her second production and coincidentally both her first film [HASEENA MAAN JAAYEGI] and this one belong to the same genre light-hearted entertainers. That's true, she states, I want the audience to come out laughing from the theatres, instead of making them watch talk-heavy films or violent fares. That's why I chose this genre the second time around as well.
