Change is the only constant and by the looks of it the upper echelons of the major Bollywood production house Reliance Big Pictures is now subject to the same. In fact four senior level employees of the production giant, namely, Utpal Acharya (Country Head Distribution and Acquisition), Ashish Wagh (Head of Western Region Distribution), Sheetal (Distribution Assistant) and Ruchi Sailor who was in the legal department have voluntarily resigned from their respective posts within the company. The reason behind this sudden resignation of the four is being attributed to a conflict of interest with the company.
It is learnt that Utpal, Ashish, Sheetal and Ruchi together floated a production house that was separate from Reliance and under the same banner produced the Marathi film Pyaar Vali Love Story. Commenting on the same Sanjeev Lamba, CEO, Reliance Entertainment says, "There was conflict of interest, but no embezzlement, the four of them have voluntarily chosen to resign so the matter is closed and Reliance is not taking any further steps on this matter."
When we contacted Ruchi Sailor, who was part of the legal department at Reliance clarifies saying, "First of all the reports that we have been sacked are totally false. In reality we have voluntarily resigned, and the company on its part has relieved us from duty after completion of the entire procedure and full formality." Further clarifying about the reports of the four being accused in a scam Ruchi adds, "As for there being a scam as such there was nothing like that. Yes we did start a company and produced the said Marathi film that led to a conflict of interest. But there was no money involved and definitely no scam, with all the allegations being totally untrue." As for the course of action in the coming future Ruchi says, "Being from the legal background I will not let this pass, there will definitely be a legal suit on the grounds of defamation."
Adding to Ruchi, Utpal Acharya (Country Head Distribution and Acquisition) says, "After a long stint of four and half years with Reliance Entertainment I have decided to move on to pursue a venture of my own. I am parting ways with Reliance Entertainment amicably and it has been a great learning experience. The trade rumours otherwise are baseless."
Echoing a similar perspective Ashish Wagh, (Head of Western Region Distribution) says, "This is a completely negative and untrue story, all the allegations of misappropriations of funds and that we have been sacked is untrue. The only fact is that, yes we did form a company, and that out voluntary resignations have been accepted by Reliance."
