Sanjay Dutt, who was recently convicted in the 1993 blast case, had initially been given a month's time to surrender. Now we hear that Dutt, who has a slew of films underproduction, has approached the Supreme Court seeking more time to surrender.
Dutt, convicted under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, yesterday moved the highest court pleading it to grant him six more months before he is imprisoned to allow him to complete his film commitments.
Dutt seeks more time from SCIn his plea, Dutt has pleaded that he should be granted more time to surrender in order to complete his film projects as huge money has been invested by the producers in these projects and these would be affected.
While on the other hand, the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers, Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association and the Film & TV Producers' Guild of India are writing a letter to the President of India to ask if Dutt can surrender at a later date.
