With I.I.F.A. happening in Singapore this year [it was held in Johannesburg, South Africa last year] and Zee Cine Awards taking place in Dubai, the organizers of film awards are now holding events across the globe to attract a global audience. In a significant development, Foursome Productions [Nitin Manmohan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty and Ajay Devgan] and Popcorn Entertainment will be involved in the scripting, co-ordination and direction of the first-ever Dubai Indian Film Awards [D.I.F.A.], scheduled to be held in Dubai on January 20, 2005 - coinciding with the immensely popular Dubai Shopping Festival. Global Events, Dubai will organize the event. The effort is to launch a brand, Nitin states, D.I.F.A. will give the Dubai audiences a voice they never had before. Hindi cinema lovers across the Middle East will be able to send their nomination for awards by logging on to www.dubaifilmawards.com. The first D.I.F.A. function will be graced by top-notch personalities from the world of films, sports and entertainment-related activities. Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji have consented to perform acts during the event. The awards will be distributed in 28 categories, while the popular awards will be selected through a poll process. Films released between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004 will be eligible for the awards. Funsters Johny Lever and Paresh Rawal will host the 4-hour-long event, while the judges will be short listed from the list comprising of Hema Malini, Rakesh Roshan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Govind Nihalani, Manmohan Shetty, Ramgopal Varma and Jaya Bachchan.
