The Film & TV Producers' Guild of India have condemned the slanderous and unsubstantiated aspersions cast by actor Shakti Kapoor in a 'sting' broadcast on India TV. However the industry is divided over the ban on the actor.
In a press statement issued the Film Producers Guild has instructed its members not to engage Kapoor's services in any of their productions. Secretary General of the guild Suparn Sen said " All members of the Guild are eminent and respected Producers who have never indulged in any acts imputed to them in the said Telecast".
Meanwhile the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers has decided not to ban the actor. President of AMPTPP Pahlaj Nihalani said, " What Shakti did is an individual problem. It has got nothing to do with the film industry and we have decided not to take any action against him."
Standing to lose not only work but also his wife, Shakti has apologized to all the producers, especially Subhash Ghai and Yash Chopra.
