J.P Dutta escaped becoming the target of the underworld when the officers of the Crime Branch foiled a bid by the underworld gangsters to shoot him down near his office. The gangsters were planning to attack Mr. Dutta in the evening. When they were confronted by the Crime Branch officials, they tried to make their way on a motorcycle. One of the hitman was wounded while his associate managed to flee from the spot. The injured was declared dead at the hospital. J.P Dutta refused to comment on the attack and replied in negative when asked whether he would opt for a personal security cover. Meanwhile there is a heavy security for the Refugee premiere which is scheduled to be held at the Liberty theatre on 29th June at 7:30 pm.
