Concord India-Pak show: A success

Cricket and Bollywood are undeniably the two biggest passions among Indians. And now even Pakistanis are included on the list. So after the India cricket team won the final ODI against Pakistan on Wednesday, it was the turn of Indian film industry to mesmerize the Pakistani audience in Lahore on Thursday. The ‘Concord-2002-India-Pak show’ , which was supposed to be the biggest Bollywood show in Lahore, eventuated as a magnanimous affair on March 25 at the Royal Palm Golf & Country Club. All expected Bollywood stars turned out at the occasion and bowled over the audience by their friendly charm. Singer Babul Supriyo began the show with the duet ‘Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge’ in accordance with the theme of the show. Pakistani pop star Ahmed Jahanzeb gave him company. Shaan was joined by Pakistani pop sensation Ali Zafar in his singing. Performances by Jatin Lalit and Sunidhi Chauhan followed. Shilpa Shetty made an entry by swaying the Indian and Pakistani flags together and was so carried away by her patriotic feeling for both countries that she even kissed the Pakistani flag. Akshay Kumar made up for the grand finale with his exemplary dance movements. Omar Shariff (who recently anchored the Zee Cine Awards show in Dubai played the humble host with his Indian counterpart Sajid Khan and had the 4000 plus audiences in splits. On Friday morning Akshay Kumar attended a press conference before Pakistani media and was at complete ease at answering their queries. He confessed that he enjoyed listening to Naseebo Lal and watching Pakistani plays. He also clarified that his upcoming venture Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo , isn’t an anti-Pak film but shows India and Pakistan coming together to fight terrorism. Shilpa Shetty and Sajid Khan joined the conference subsequently and all wished for peace and harmony between the two countries.
