Chori Chori Chupke Chupke postponed indefinitely:

The travails of CCCC do not appear to be ending. The real Badshah of Bollywood, Bharat Shah was summoned by the Crime Branch on Friday morning for interrogation regarding the movie's sources of funding and his links with the underworld.

Bharat Shah performed a major puja at the Jain temple in Bhayander before presenting himself to the Unit I of the Crime Branch at Crawford Market. The session lasted for nearly two hours and ended at around 1:45 pm. Senior police sources said that they confronted Shah with the evidence of underworld involvement in CCCC and demanded an explanation regarding the nature of his business transactions with Nazeem Rizvi. Nazeem, who is the producer of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke was arrested on Wednesday and remanded into judicial custody till December 27.

Bharat Shah has denied any links with the underworld, and has claimed that he had legitimately invested money in the film, and not under pressure from Chhota Shakeel as alleged by the Mumbai police. He added that he was a businessman and would invest only if he was reasonably sure about his returns. He termed the whole episode as a charade and figment of an hyper-active imagination.

Earlier, the police seized the negatives of the film on Thursday on the grounds that it is the property of an organised gang. Another zinger is that though the film has been cleared by the Censor Board, the certificate is yet to be issued as the final copy after the changes / cuts demanded by the Censor Board has not yet been submitted to them. With the seizure of prints, the submission to the Censor Board is ruled out.

Thus there is absolutely no chance that CCCC will release in the immediate future. Bharat Shah demanded that the police remove their blockade on the film, as he was the world rights controller of the film and not Nazeem Rizvi. The fate of the film is now in the court who will rule on the veracity of Bharat Shah's claims.

The fallout of the developments in Mumbai was felt in Nagpur where the state legislative assembly's winter session is on.

Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal asserted that the state government would not hesitate to inquire fully into the film industry-underworld nexus. He added: "The government will not spare those who helped Rizvi in investing money in movies."

Absolute chaos reins in distribution and exhibition circles. The distributors of CCCC and over 300 exhibitors across the country, who had booked the film for release on December 22, are in the state of panic. There is no moksha for them in sight.
