The very lovely Dia Mirza gets ready for her October 18 wedding in Delhi to filmmaker Sahil Sangha.
As D-Day dawned for the very lovely Dia Mirza, she could barely contain her excitement. The wedding in Delhi, where most of Dia's bridegroom Sahil's relatives live, on October 18 will be attended only by close friends and family.
All the rituals of the bride's father would be performed by Boman Irani who is very close to Dia.
Speaking on the eve of her wedding Dia Mirza said, "Boman will be performing all the duties and rituals of the father during my wedding ceremony. It was a promise that he had made to me when we did Raju Hirani's Lage Raho Munnabhai together."
The two previous days were devoted to the Sangeet and Mehndi ceremonies and Dia said, "It has been the most beautiful experience of my life. The mehndi was all about the dhol, tappa, gaana followed by a Sufi Qawwalli. It was a magical experience."
The Sangeet on Friday evening had Dia and the shy Sahil joining in the dancing.
As for the wedding Dia says, "It is the most important day in any girl's life. Boman Irani is doing all the rituals of the father at my wedding."
Shedding light on her extreme contentment as she steps into a new phase in her life, Dia Mirza confessed, "It's hard to describe my joy right now. So much of what I am feeling right now is an extension of what my loved ones are feeling. I feel special and loved and very blessed."
The wedding on Saturday would be attended only by very close family and friends of the couple.
Says Dia, "The venues for the wedding ceremonies are private farm houses. The guests are just family and close friends. I am meeting some of my relatives from my dad's side of the family for the first time. It's so wonderful to be surrounded by family. Sahil has a large family. But I've realized over the past few days that the family I've made over the years of genuine friends out-numbers Sahil's biological family.
