Come new year and the award season begins Like I.I.F.A. and Zee, another award function will be held on a foreign destination - Global Indian Film Awards. The venue is Dubai. Why Dubai? That's because Global Indian Film Awards has the support from Dubai Shopping Festival and the Government of U.A.E. Global Indian Film Awards will be hosted at the Al Wasal Stadium on January 27, 2005. The cr? de la cr? of the film industry, corporate world as well as members of the U.A.E. Royal family are expected to attend the mega-event. In an exclusive conversation with this writer at Hyatt, Mumbai, Sameer Khan [V.P., Global Events, Dubai] revealed that Global Indian Film Awards would be a 3-day extravaganza, not a 1-day event. The event will kick start with not one but two premiere shows of forthcoming films [on January 25], followed by a football match with members of the U.A.E. football team and Indian celebrities [on January 26]. A number of events and parties [night safaris, belly dancers and more!] have been lined up for the Indian guests after the match... We'd keep you awake and entertained for all the three days and nights, Sameer divulges. A spectacular awards ceremony will be held on January 27 and a lavish dinner party will follow the grand event. Popcorn Entertainment is scripting and directing the affair.
