For two nights, June 28 and 29, New York is going to swing to the Bollywood beat. For, the Bollywood Fashion Awards and the Bollywood Awards (on the lines of the internationally famed Oscar Awards), are going to be held for the fourth consecutive year at the Grand Ballroom, Manhattan Center Studios and the Nassau Coliseum in New York. And all the big stars of Mumbai's tinsel town have promised to be there to receive their awards and entertain their fans as part of a mega stage show glowing with laser lights and pyrotechnics. There will be numerous categories to award the best performers of the past one year in Bollywood combined with dazzling items by our film stars to keep the live audiences enthralled through the two nites. Organised by the US-based Kamal Dandona (Chairman of the Bollywood Group of Companies) and his daughter Sonia, the Awards are all about connecting the large Indian community abroad with Indian entertainers. This year s Bollywood Fashion Awards and Bollywood Awards will have the largest gathering of Indian movie artistes ever outside India. And along with the stars, would be present, a host of models, playback singers, mimics, comedians, dancers and many others who contribute in making Bollywood what it is; one of the biggest and most buoyant of entertainment industries in the world. Participating in the event this year are a galaxy of stars which includes Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Raveena Tandon, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahima Chaudhary, Anupam Kher, Diya Mirza, Vasundhara Das, Jeetendra, Tusshar Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Karan Johar, Vashu Bhagnani, Saif Ali Khan, Urmila Matondkar and more & some of whom have also been nominated to win awards in several categories. Also participating are international artistes like Stereo Nation from UK, leading actress Reema and the latest heartthrob Mira from Pakistan, Shakila Zafar from Bangladesh, Rooplal Girdharie and the Angels Band from the Caribbean, Dheeraj and Sukhbir from Dubai-UAE, Steven Seagal's discovery Anjali and the extremely popular Truth Hurts from America. Right from the conception, planning and execution of this mega event, my colleagues and I have been leaving no stone unturned to make the Awards a glamourous and historic event, says Kamal Dandona. The Awards nite will witness a live audience of over 14,000 and will be covered by leading television channels in India and abroad. It can also be noted here that celebrities like Michael Jackson, Richard Gere, Steven Seagal, Sir Andrew Llyod Webber, U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, U.S. Congressman Benjamin Gillman, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Ismail Merchant, Mira Nair and Shekhar Kapur have been part of the Bollywood Fashion Awards and the Bollywood Awards in the past years.
