BMC has received a complaint from the Watchdog Foundation about giving public access to the road next to Shah Rukh Khan's bungalow Mannat, a short cut route that will be easily accessible for pilgrims to visit the popular Mount Mary Church of the city.
According to the members of the Watchdog Foundation, the season of Bandra Fair in Mumbai will be starting soon and the place tends to get overcrowded considering that the public fair has lakhs of people visiting the church to offer their prayers every year. Hence, they have demanded an access to the small road that goes via Shah Rukh Khan's palatial residence Mannat as it will reduce the chaotic situation caused by visitors.
The route in question has been closed for almost three years and it is being said that the action was taken owing to the security of Shah Rukh Khan. However, despite that, last year, owing to large number of pilgrims who visited the Church, the route was opened on the third day of the annual fair and was shut down immediately after it ended.
The trustee of Watchdog Foundation, Nicholas Almeida stated that the route that passes adjacent to Mannat is a shorter route and people have easy access to the church. Hence last year, the route was opened and in fact, the foundation was even provided with an assurance that it will opened permanently. But now the road has been shut again, because of which the foundation has to demand access for it once again.
Assistant Deputy Commissioner from BMC Zone 3, Prashant Satpale is currently looking into the matter and he has revealed that he has been asked to do an inquiry and will soon be sending the report.
Shah Rukh Khan lives in Mannat along with his wife Gauri Khan and his three children, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.
