Director Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani [the DIL CHAHTA HAI team] have just returned from Leh after completing a major shooting schedule of LAKSHYA and the interaction with the Hollywood crew [yes, a number of Hollywood technicians are involved in the making of the film!] has left them enriched.
We were working with clockwork precision, Ritesh Sidhwani tells me, Everyone from Mr. Bachchan to Om Puri to Hrithik use to be awake at 1.30 a.m. and report for shooting at 4 a.m., shoot till late afternoon and retire to bed by 7 p.m. everyday. We felt that may be Mr. Bachchan and Om-ji may not be able to follow this strict regime on a daily basis, but they did so till the last day of the schedule.
Incidentally, Farhan, Ritesh and the unit believe in working six days a week, with a day off [Sunday] to get 'refreshed'. That's the practice they follow even during their outdoor schedules.
Before I forget, Ritesh has denied reports that appeared in a section of the press about a number of technicians walking out of the sets due to Farhan's 'tough and no-nonsense' attitude. Nothing of the sort happened. On the contrary, a few people had to be flown back to Mumbai because they couldn't bear the cold, Ritesh clarifies.
If all goes well, LAKSHYA will be premiered at the Cannes next year. Hindi films are truly going global!
