Mid-October, we'd written about Gaurang Doshi's grandiose plans of recreating Karachi by constructing a massive set of a fort in Mumbai's Film City studios for his forthcoming flick DEEWAAR LET'S BRING OUR HEROES HOME. Gaurang had decided to erect the set since it would be cumbersome obtaining permissions for every small thing that we intend changing within an actual fort, he had remarked then. Well, Gaurang has had a change of mind and has now decided to shoot the portions in an actual fort. The fort a half-an-hour drive from Varanasi has been suggested by none other than the Big B himself. In fact, Gaurang flew to the site this week to procure permissions from the government authorities. Amit-ji suggested that we shoot in the fort, Gaurang admits, We plan to shoot the film from January 1 to February 7, which will also mark the completion of the film. Though Gaurang has plans of releasing the film on May 14, 2004, the enterprising producer has decided to start the promotion of the film from November 28 onwards exactly five months before the film's theatrical release. As many as 350 theatrical promos of the film will be screened in cinema halls, not just in India, but in the Overseas territory as well. It's a new strategy, Gaurang adds. The 2-minute promo which was screened for the guests at the launch of the film is the same that will be screened in the theatres. Don't be surprised if you catch the promo of DEEWAAR while watching KAL HO NAA HO or JANASHEEN in a near-by theatre. Remember, we informed you well in advance!
