In the recent past we have seen filmmakers scaling up the production of their respective films with bigger budgets and even bigger stories. While most of the filmmakers are constantly seeking that prime extended weekend slot, if not a solo release date, every now and then there are inevitable clashes witnessed at the box office with two big ticket releases going head to head. After the much talked about clash between Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani in December last year, we now hear that the sequel to the well-received Bahubali: The Beginning, which is titled Bahubali: The Conclusion, will clash with another big sequel Robot 2.0.
Coming to the big clash, while Bahubali: The Conclusion, directed by SS. Rajamouli featuring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan was originally slated to release this year. However, few weeks back, Karan Johar announced the new release date of April 14, 2017, which happens to be Good Friday, thus giving the film an extended weekend of 3 days.
Bahubali: The Conclusion and Robot 2.0 to clash at the box office in 2017?On the other hand, the Shankar directed Robot 2.0 (AKA Enthiran 2.0) stars superstar Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson and the latest big addition to the film is none other than Akshay Kumar, who plays the main villain in the film. Though the makers as of now have announced only 2017 as the release year, our sources tell us that Robot 2.0 may also be aiming for its big release around the same time, hence bringing Bahubali: The Conclusion and Robot 2.0 to a head on collision.
The reason why this apparently clash will be interesting is that fact that while Bahubali: The Conclusion much like its prequel is backed by Karan Johar and Dharma Productions and has already managed to establish a fan base that is eagerly awaiting the release of the film, Robot 2.0, apart from Rajinikanth features the Bollywood action star Akshay Kumar, whose look from the film that released recently sent fans into a tizzy. Besides both the films are VFX heavy and are made on huge budgets. Apart from this both films will see massive releases across multiple languages, boosted by the fact that they will both release on the extended weekend of Good Friday next year.
Both Bahubali: The Conclusion and Robot 2.0 are sequels to box-office blockbusters and boast of equally big names in the cast, along with similarly huge canvas. If the rumoured clash turns out to be true, it certainly looks like the audiences will be the ones benefitting from it the most.
