B.O. update: ‘Black Friday’ starts slow

Call it a coincidence, the two films that opened this week -- BLACK FRIDAY and UNDERTRIAL -- are based on real-life incidents. BLACK FRIDAY: Adlabs have released 128 prints in India [includes 21 Digital], targeting the film at multiplexes mainly and a few single screens. A limited release, the film has also opened in limited shows across the country. The opening was 20%-25%, but the word of mouth is extremely positive and the industry is hopeful that the business will show an upward trend on Saturday and Sunday. In Overseas, Adlabs has released 10 prints in U.S.A. and 3 in South Africa. UNDERTRIAL: Released with 97 prints in India [includes 40 Digital], the silver lining is that the film is being liked by the viewers. In fact, the pre-release buzz was as good as nil, but the positive reports should help consolidate its position in days to come. The second half has been appreciated tremendously! Rajshris VIVAH has emerged the biggest surprise. In almost all cases, the number of prints start decreasing as weeks progress, but VIVAH is only going from strength to strength. The number of cinemas [incl. Digital] screening VIVAH all over India are as follows:- 1st week: 206 cinemas; 2nd week: 219 cinemas; 3rd week: 219 cinemas; 4th week: 252 cinemas; 5th week: 245 cinemas; 6th week: 270 cinemas; 7th week: 258 cinemas; 8th week: 300 cinemas; 9th week: 325 cinemas; 10th week: 273 cinemas; 11th week: 260 cinemas; 12th week: 246 cinemas; 13th week: 225 cinemas and 14th week: 228 cinemas.
