Filmmaker Anil Sharma best remembered for films like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, The Hero: Love Story of Spy and the more recent release Singh Sahab the Great that hit screens in 2013 will soon be returning to direction with a film titled Genius. Though the writer - director is gung-ho about the project, we hear that apart from him returning to filmmaking there are a couple of added reasons for him to celebrate. In fact Sharma will be launching his son Utkarsh as the lead protagonist in the film Genius.
Anil Sharma to launch his son Utkarsh with film titled GeniusWhile Sharma will be announcing the film tomorrow, July 14, he confirmed the news to us saying, "July 14 for me is a very special day, for starters my father launched me on the same day back in 1980 with the film Shradhanjali that starred Raakhee, so in turn I think this is the best day that I should launch my son in films. Also July 14 is my daughter's birthday. So, what better day to announce the launch of Utkarsh."
Further talking about the concept for the film, Anil Sharma adds, "I first though of making a film to launch my son once he had returned after completing his filmmaking course in the States a year back and that is when Genius was conceptualized. Now that he is returning, he will be welcomed with this announcement." When prodded for details of what to expect from Genius, Sharma reveals a few details saying, "Genius will feature action, drama, romance and comedy, basically it will be an all-round entertainer. To put it simply Genius is a film that tells the story of the battle of the heart fought by the mind."
Talking about the rest of the cast and production details of Genius, Anil Sharma adds, "I will be producing the film under my own banner Anil Sharma Productions and I will also be directing the project. In terms of cast we are yet to finalize the lead actress and are currently looking at option."
