aRenowned poet-lyricist Gulzar known for his meaningful poetry has for the first time penned lyrics for an item song. Gulzar has penned the item song for his erstwhile assistant's debut film 'Sabab - The Reason To Be'. Daboo Malik has composed the number, which is picturized on Riya Sen. The film stars Mahima Chaudhary, Karan Khanna (cousin of Akshaye Khanna), Rahul Dev and Pakistani model-turned-actress Gia. Another aspect that makes this item number different is that it is not sung by the likes of singers like the sensuous Sunidhi Chauhan or the rustic Sweta Shetty but is crooned by Shreya Ghosal known for her sweet-voiced songs like Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai (Jism) and Silsila Ye Chahat Ka (Devdas). This surely seems like an item number with a difference!
Amu, the film based on actual events that took place during the 1984 riots, directed by Shonali Bose, has been selected for the Berlin Film Festival 2005. The film has been selected for the 35th International Forum Section, 'International Forum of New Cinema' Competition for Wolfgang Staudre Award.
