Time and again, Akshay Kumar has proved that, whenever the need be, he will not think twice before rising to the occasion. A few months back, while the entire country was stunned by the rising suicides amongst farmers because of the drought, Akshay Kumar went onto donate Rs. 90 lakhs to drought-hit farmers in Maharashtra.
Akshay Kumar donates Rs. 5 lakhs each to the families of the jawansThis time round, when Akshay Kumar had visited the army jawans in order to promote his filmRustom, reportedly donated Rs. 80 lakhs to the jawans. When asked about his selfless and noble gesture, Akshay Kumar who always refrains from talking about his philanthropic side said that, from a practical point of view, besides the medals, these jawans need money as well. And that was the reason why he decided to give Rs. 5 lakhs to each family of the jawans.
He emphasized that this (philanthropic) practice should be continued.
